PHOTONOPTICON FOR RC WILLEY LAS VEGAS
PeopleVisionFX has produced a
PhotonOpticon presentation for a Las Vegas location of the RC Willey
chain of furniture stores. The PhotonOpticon is a hologram-type effect
based on a new technology from PeopleVision. When a store visitor comes
near the display, a life-size woman appears on a transparent screen and
provides a short presentation. Unlike an ordinary hologram, the
PhotonOpticon figure is able to move and speak. She appears on a
transparent screen and is, herself, translucent. When each presentation is finished, the figure disappears
and the screen returns to transparency.
“ASC MISSION PORTAL” FOR U.S. ARMY
PeopleVisionFX created a unique trade
show exhibit for the U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC). Attendees were greeted
by a large, circular archway with a ramp leading up to the threshold. To the
right of the ramp, there was an “Input
Terminal.” The
Terminal featured a sculpted handprint in translucent blue and was
surrounded by hieroglyphics.
When visitors placed their hands in the handprint, the sculpted
surface illuminated from within and the Mission Portal came alive. The space inside the Portal became an active
“plasma” of visual effects, while sound effects continued to support
the experience. A voice encouraged visitors approach the portal. When
they did, a motion sensor triggered one of 18 short vignettes about

birthday. The actor’s features and voice are projected using a larger
